The rescue teams had last night recovered bodies of two victims, who fell into the river after the bridge collapse, police said.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that a "massive search and rescue operation is being carried out".

"So far one body has been fished out", Mr. Savaikar said.

"As per local inputs, there may be two more persons missing".

The Indian Navy, whose divers are engaged in search-and-rescue operations, said the operation was resumed on Friday even as crocodiles in the Sanvordem river were creating a hindrance in the efforts.

The search operation, which had ended early morning at 3 am on Friday, recommenced at 07:30 am but till late Friday evening no more bodies were retrieved from the river. The exact number of persons missing is still not known.
