Manchester United's pursuit of Antoine Griezmann ended abruptly last week after Atletico Madrid's transfer ban was upheld and all of a sudden the James Rodriguez rumours have come back in earnest.

Regardless of whether or not Liverpool's interest in James Rodriguez is of substance or not, the Reds don't need a player in the Colombian's mould anyway.

James was left out of the squad for Real's Champions League final against Juventus despite having trained the previous day with the rest of the first team. The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to England with both Manchester United and Chelsea strong contenders for his signature.

The Colombian global started just 13 La Liga games last season with the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco all ahead of him in Zinedine Zidane's pecking order.

CLEVELAND, OH- For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Cavaliers returned home with a 2-0 series deficit in the NBA Finals . Smith also spoke with Cleveland.com about the tweet and denied sending it. "I'm smarter than that".

According to a report from Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito, a surprise Premier League side have entered the race for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, though the Blancos have rejected an initial bid for the Colombian.

However, Spanish television show El Chiringuito claim Arsenal are looking to hijack their rivals' plans to sign the Colombia global.

No precise details about Arsenal's offer have been disclosed but the report did state that it fell short of Madrid's £69.8m valuation so it looks like the north Londoners are going to have to dig a little deeper if they want to sign the South American.

Rodriguez could prove a fine signing if he replicates the form he showed before moving to Real in 2014, when he was one of the stand-out performers at that summer's World Cup.
