Google Just Made Finding a New Job Easier

Google is partnering with several help-wanted and employer-rating services, including LinkedIn, Monster, WayUp, DirectEmployers, Career Builders, Glassdoor and Facebook.

It must be noted that Google itself are not starting a job search portal, but merely refining and sorting jobs posted on the biggest to the smallest of job portals.

Google is turning its search engine into an employment engine as well. The company said it's also publishing open documentation on the feature for all job providers so that other third-party platforms or employer Web sites can ensure sure that Google discovers their open positions. The job search widget has not been included among these popular tabs but will appear once you make a relevant keyword search, such as jobs near me, civil engineering jobs, and disc jockey openings. According to Google, there are no plans in the works to let employers posts jobs directly to its jobs search engine.

"Finding a job is like dating", Nick Zakrasek, Google's product manager for this project said. This allows people to see and analyze a large variety of jobs. This spares a lot of time during which, until now, people needed to navigate lots of different sites only to find duplicates of the same job offers or irrelevant jobs. Then, its machine learning-enabled algorithms sift through and categorize them.

There's no way you can search for job openings as extensive as Google jobs.

Each job listing includes links to where the job was initially posted such as on CareerBuilder, Zip Recruiter or the company's website. Also, Google is not handling the application process.

However, "our experience shows clearly that search is useful only if it has all the jobs", said Paul D'Arcy, senior vice president at Indeed. "We want the players in the ecosystem to be more successful". In an effort to make the job search easier, Google has powered up its search engine to provide more information about job openings. There is likely some tension pulling and listing content from sites that monetize that very same content, so keeping certain important pieces of information behind a click-through could be about helping to prevent a legal fight.
