Randolph initially told cops she found two-year-old Juliet and 16-month-old Cavanaugh passed out in the locked auto outside their home near Lake Weatherford, so she smashed the window to get them out. When she told her daughter to get out of the auto, she refused, and Randolph closed the vehicle door "to teach her daughter a 'lesson, ' thinking 'she could get herself and her brother out of auto when ready, '" the release said. "A child is likely to die when his body temperature reaches 107 degrees, and that can happen in minutes".

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 24, was arrested Friday on two counts of causing injury to a child.

After searching for them for more than half an hour, she said, she found them locked in a small four-door vehicle on the property.

Randolph told investigators that she then went back into her home, smoked marijuana and slept for two to three hours. As of late Friday, Randolph's bond had not been set.

Ms Randolph initially said they were exposed to extreme temperatures inside the vehicle for no longer than an hour. Randolph eventually admitted she broke the window of the auto to make it look like an accident, according to WFAA.

Randolph told investigators she later broke the auto window to make it look like an accident, officials said.

The Texas mom is now in custody at Park County Jail. The Tarrant County medical examiner's website identified the children as Juliet and Cavanaugh Ramirez.

Randolph was arrested after several subsequent interviews and an extensive investigation conducted by sheriff's investigators with the assistance of the Texas Rangers, the release said.

Sheriff Fowler originally said on May 26, that any incidents involving any child are hard ones, but this call was especially heartbreaking with the unfortunate deaths of the two children.
