The Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a salary dump trade.

The Nets are sending center Justin Hamilton, a 2018 lottery-protected first-round pick and a second-round pick to Toronto.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, was first with reports of the Raptors - Nets trade.

RAPTORS: Three people with knowledge of the dealings told The Associated Press that the Toronto Raptors have made two trades, sending DeMarre Carroll to Brooklyn for salary cap relief and landing C.J. Miles in a sign-and-trade with in for Cory Joseph.

After re-signing Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry, the Raptors were still interested in making moves in free agency this summer but lacked the cap room to do so. Miles wasn't likely to return and IN was below the cap without his cap hold, allowing the team to make the same trade without him. Until that becomes official, though, the Nets don't have the salary-cap space to complete the trade for Carroll. Mandatory Credit: Raj Mehta-USA TODAY SportsWhat's in it for Brooklyn?

That noted, the ability to add Miles was surely a crucial part of the Raptors' decision to trade Carroll. Small forward DeMarre Carroll and his huge cap figure will be shipped from the Raptors to the Nets in an interesting move.

Police suspect Manchester bomber 'did not act alone'
Officers are said to now be "engaged" with authorities in Libya where Salman's brother, Hashem, is being held. The killer had been caught on CCTV before the attack, stalking the streets of Manchester.

In DeMarre Carroll they just might find one.

The 30-year-old signed with Toronto as a free agent in 2015, but was hampered by injuries that limited him to 26 games in 2015-16 and 72 games last year. Miles was 15th in the National Basketball Association in catch-and-shoot points per game last season despite playing fewer minutes than anyone ahead of him. DeMarre will provide veteran leadership for an extremely young team and figures to start at small forward.

Brooklyn is clearly not afraid to roll the dice.

Anunoby is under contract through the 2018-19 season, with two team option years to follow.

While Carroll is a useful player when healthy, the former Atlanta Hawks standout is owed $30 million combined over the next two seasons and, in short, was not worth that kind of investment at this point. It won't be easy with a team who won 20 games and finished as the worst in the league then had to watch as the Boston Celtics took their No. 1 pick.
