State gas prices break streak of declines, but now falling again

Despite the uptick, Arkansans are paying one cent less per gallon than they did a year ago, and 7.4 cents less than a month ago.

The Dearborn-based auto club says late Sunday the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.42 per gallon. The state's most expensive gas is being sold in Jackson at $2.48 a gallon.

While the national average price for gasoline increased for the first time in five weeks, local and state prices are staying steady or slightly decreasing, according to AAA. Oil prices made steady gains, increasing from $42.53 to $47.07 during the course of 13 days, raising the cost of producing gasoline, AAA reported.

The statewide average price for a gallon of regular rose on Friday but appears to be headed south again.

The New York State average is $2.42 per gallon, down a penny from last week.

The average retail gasoline price in NY state fell another 1.1 cents per gallon last week to settle at $2.41 on Sunday. Brent crude, used to price worldwide oils, fell $1.40, or 2.9 percent, to $46.71 per barrel in London.

The summer of falling gas prices in Roseville continues with prices now being reported below the $2.50 mark at more than ten gas stations in Roseville.

Just how far those price increases will extend may depend on the outcome of OPEC's efforts to further constrain the global supply of crude oil.
