Deadline reports that the always-ambitious director has dropped Margot Robbie a line in the hope that she'll be interested in the role of Sharon Tate, the late actress and wife of director Roman Polanski. Add Jennifer Lawrence to the mix and you're looking at one hell of a movie to keep an eye on. If his Manson family project comes off, this will be his first film based on true events.

The Manson murders have been retold and picked apart in countless works including Helter Skelter (based on the best-selling book by prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi), the 1973 documentary Manson, NBC's recent series Aquarius and much more.

As per the Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino - whose most recent film was 2015's The Hateful Eight - is planning on writing and directing the film, as he's done for much of his career. Tate, who was eight months pregnant, was one of five victims murdered by Manson and his cult on that fateful night in August of '69. The "Tate murders" were brutal, and seeing how Tarantino is well-known for his graphic depiction of violence, it's safe to assume the film will be absolutely terrifying.
