Here's what Al Pacino will look like playing Joe Paterno

Uncanny, ain't it? Actually, that's Paterno himself in the photo above - Pacino as Paterno is below, as HBO has released the first image from its upcoming movie, Happy Valley, centering on the former Penn State football coach.

Al Pacino's first photo as legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has just been released online. Other stars in the film include Kathy Baker, as wife Sue Paterno, Greg Grunberg (as son Scott Paterno), Annie Parisse (as daughter Mary Kay Paterno) and Riley Keough as reporter Sara Ganim.

Paterno became Penn State's football coach in 1966 and coached until he was sacked in 2011 after the revelations that Sandusky, longtime defensive coordinator, was arrested on 52 counts of child sexual abuse that occurred between 1994 and 2009.

During the 1960s, he had character roles in " The Greatest Story Ever Told ", " Nevada Smith " and "The Hallelujah Trail". Landau, who was born in NY , also starred in the British series Space: 1999 alongside his then wife, Barbara Bain.

Academy Award victor Al Pacino is about to tackle one of his most controversial roles yet, portraying late college football legend Joe Paterno.

Paterno was dismissed from his coaching duties in 2012 and died two months later due to complications from lung cancer.

Like he did for You Don't Know Jack and Phil Spector, Pacino seems to have literally transformed himself into the guise of the real-life Paterno, whose looks were accented by trademark thick, black-framed glasses. The project is now in production and without an official release date. His record was tarnished after NCAA vacated 111 of the games he had won, all of which occurred between 1998-when he allegedly first had knowledge of Sandusky's conduct-and the end of his coaching career in 2011, when he was forced to resign. Sandusky was convicted of 45 of the 48 counts against him, 40 of those counts being sex crimes against young boys.
