Earlier in the day, Pakistan once again violated ceasefire along LoC in Balakot region of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nine people, including 6 soldiers, were killed and 18 injured in over a dozen ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army along the LoC this month.

Another soldier, identified as Sepoy Jaspreet Singh, was killed in Pakistani shelling in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

There has a rise in incidents where Pakistan is targeting the civilians in Poonch and Nowshera sector for some time now.

"Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on the Indian Army posts in Nowshera sector this afternoon at around 1350 hrs, while own troops retaliated strongly and effectively, " a Defence Spokesman here said.

Sources said the soldier belonging to 17 Infantry Brigade was killed when a sniper fired by Pakistani troops hit him at Sangam post in Nowgam sector along the LoC.

"Forty-five to 50 students of the government high school in Sehar in Naushera sector were trapped due to heavy shelling", news agency Press Trust of India quoted Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, a senior police officer, as saying.

More than 150 students have been shifted to camps while other students were handed over to parents.

The official said forward villages including Kalsian, Sair, Bahwani, Namb and Jhangar in Rajouri also came under heavy shelling.

Security personnel have reportedly been rushed to the spot of Tuesday's ceasefire violation in order to evacuate the children who are stuck in schools.

The cross-LoC bus service between Poonch-Rawlakote route remained suspended in view of heavy Pakistan shelling along LoC in Rajouri district, leaving 55 citizens of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir stranded in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
