Frank Floridia, with Strong Island Animal Rescue League, responded to the beach to care for the deer. Storm followed the critter, licking and nudging its neck to make sure it was okay.

He uploaded the footage online, writing; "What a morning.can't believe this.Storm just saved this baby deer from PJ Harbor". Storm is a golden retriever, a dog breed that belongs to the group known as "sporting dogs".

"Storm just plunged into the water and started swimming out to the fawn, grabbed it by the neck, and started swimming to shore", Freeley told CBS News. It has been watched more than 1.6 million times.

Video of a dog saving a fawn from drowning off the shore of Long Island is making everyone say "awww". Turns out it was a baby deer, struggling to swim.

He shared: " Lady Gaga's fanbase read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f***ing hate". Sheeran didn't provide any explanation about his decision, but the account has since been restored with tweets from 2013.

Storm then places the fawn on the shore for a moment's rest before pulling her further away from the water.

The deer appeared to be breathing, so Storm and his owner stayed with it until a veterinarian and a representative from Strong Island Animal Rescue showed up, WTVT reports.

He told the Daily News that when he reached the deer, she went limp and let him grab her because the animal knew he was saving her. There was some speculation that it went into the shop after seeing other deer - or at least their heads mounted on walls - inside. "I really didn't have much of a choice".

She was rushed to the vet where she was given fluids and food, as well as treatment for ticks and an eye injury.
