In addition to that Microsoft is also offering next generation 3D Paint free with Windows 10.

From the days of glass screens and boxy computers of yesteryear to the sleek, lightweight laptops of today, in the 32 years since Microsoft Windows was introduced, users have always been able to doodle in Microsoft Paint.

In the latest clarification, Microsoft said, "Today, we've seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint". "It has been fantastic to see so much love for our trusty old app", it said. Microsoft goes into outlining which programs will be axed, but one of them, stood out for us when first glanced upon, and that was the ever-cherished Microsoft Paint.

Microsoft had previously classified the Paint app as "deprecated" within the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, meaning Microsoft would officially cease development on it, and it could be removed from the OS either with the release of the FCU or in the future. While this is still the case, Microsoft now says it will offer the software as a free download should anyone want to keep using it. Twitter users commiserated by sharing MS Paint-drawn obituaries. However, the legendary application would not come pre-installed with Windows 10 operating system and instead exist as a standalone app in the Windows Store.

The 32-year-old drawing tool will remain with the users.

Microsoft already has a Paint alternative, Paint 3D, which includes similar tools along with, as the name suggests, a few 3D editing options.

"MS Paint is here to stay".

Thankfully for those people, while Paint 3D continues to evolve and receive regular updates, its old-school forebear will still be accessible as well.

Besides MS Paint some of the other programs that will not be available in the new update will be the 3D Builder app, Outlook Express, Reader app, Screen saver functionality in Themes and a few others.
