Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be highest-paid player in NFL

To be the highest paid player would probably be a surprise to some, just not Odell Beckham.

New York Giants president John Mara said Friday the organization is planning to reward wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with the new deal he's been seeking throughout the offseason. An extension would nearly certainly cost the Giants more than any team has paid to sign a wide receiver, but Mara's words may make this situation a question of when, not if, the Giants agree to this landmark deal. Becoming the highest-paid player in the league, on the other hand, is a feat reserved strictly for quarterbacks.

"It's like the elephant in the room, and you don't want to talk about it", Beckham says in the UNINTERRUPTED video. The Giants recently picked up the fifth-year option on the contract at what is expected to be in the $8.5 million range.

"I believe that I will be, hopefully not just the highest-paid receiver in the league, but the highest paid".

Reince Priebus out as White House Chief of Staff
Meanwhile, several damaging stories about Scaramucci have appeared in the press, and he blamed Priebus for a lot of them . When asked if he was aware of the staff shakeup prior to Trump's Twitter announcement, Priebus texted, "Yeah, we talked".

That group is led by the Raiders' Derek Carr, who inked a five-year, $125 million contract last month.

Beckham is coming off of three straight seasons with at least 90 receptions, 1,300 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. "And we're going to pay him", Mara said, without providing a concrete timetable.

A Pro Bowler in each of his three seasons and the 2014 offensive rookie of the year, Beckham is also one of the NFL's most marketable players.

If the Giants want to hold onto Beckham, however, they're going to have to open up the check book. The highest paid wide receiver is, not surprisingly, Antonio Brown, who gained that status in February.
