As EPS camp passes resolution, OPS counters with two 'crucial' demands

Hours after the AIADMK (Amma) adopted a resolution against him, TTV Dhinakaran hit out at the ruling party, led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami. The merger talks were fasttracked when Dhinakaran named his loyalists as party office-bearers. The resolution signed by Palaniswami says that Dhinakaran was pushed out from the primary membership of the party by Jayalalithaa in December 2011, due to his action of inducting into the party.

Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu minister D. Jayakumar expressed confidence over the merger of EPS, OPS factions of the AIADMK and said he hopes it happens soon.

OPS, meanwhile, said his side is "keenly" watching the situation and that a decision on a possible merger of the party's two factions will be taken "reflective" of people's expectations. Though BJP has said it has nothing to do with AIADMK, sources said a senior Sangh ideologue and economist and a Union minister were looking at ways of ending the factional feud in the party. Recently, Dinakaran had rewarded 20 MLAs with party posts for supporting the government.

The reasoning behind the notion that Dinakaran would return to the party after a merger was that the moment Panneerselvam and Palaniswamy come together, the dispute before the Election Commission on who should get the AIADMK's "Two leaves" symbol will conclude. In fact, even the EC had rejected a letter written by him in his capacity as the deputy general secretary.

Fox News host Eric Bolling suspended over 'lewd messages'
Fox News host Eric Bolling has been suspended by the cable giant due to an ongoing sexual harassment investigation . Michael Bowe , Eric Bolling's lawyer, in response to the emails announced that all these claims are uncorroborated.

The resolution, however, stopped short of expelling him and Sasikala from the party, which is one of the main pre-condition of the OPS camp for the merger.

But Dinakaran who returned to Chenai after a pilgrimage to Thiruvannamalai later on Thursday said that no one except the general secretary has the power to question his appointment. "Will this not be ridiculed?" he asked, adding that numerous new appointees are those who were sidelined by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for "non-performance".

In the Dinakaran camp, the suspicion now is that the BJP has increased pressure on the two factions to merge quickly. "We want Sasikala removed from the party and a probe ordered into the death of our leader Jayalalithaa", he reiterated.

The General Secretary position of the party will be vacant till the elections are held for the post as the constitution of AIADMK states that the general secretary can only be decided through elections.
