Instagram to allow users to share Stories on Facebook

Right now, the Stories format is popular on both Snapchat and Instagram, which makes sense considering both are photo-focused social platforms. At the time, it wasn't clear how many people are able to take part in this test, but Instagram did confirm that it was real.

In a statement to the site, an Instagram spokesperson said, "We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you".

Sixty-seven percent of Americans report getting some of their news via social media at some point, according to a Pew Research survey of just under 5,000 US adults conducted last month and published Thursday. The option is located directly beneath the option to share it on the user's Instagram Story feed and just above the user's recent contacts.

Even if that is not the case, the move still shows the desperate measures Facebook is taking to push its stories feature forward. And news use among Snapchat's user base increased 12 percentage points, to 29% now, up from 17% in early 2016. The feature appears to be quite similar to text posts with colored backgrounds on Facebook.
