The Disaster Artist is based on Greg Sestero's memoir of the same title, in which the actor recalls making The Room with Wiseau. The Disaster Artist is in theatres on December 1.

In a separate interview with The Los Angeles Times, Tommy Wiseau revealed that he trusted his story to James Franco because he is a big fan of the 2002 Nicolas Cage film Sonny, a crime drama that received nearly universally negative reviews at the time of its release. Sitting down in Entertainment Weekly, PEOPLE, and InStyle's studio at the Toronto International Film Festival, Dave discussed why it's taken so long for them to collaborate. "I laughed", Franco said. Not only does The Disaster Artist now sit at a strong 93% approval rating in Rotten Tomatoes, but it also received a standing ovation when it was shown at the South by Southwest film festival, with some saying that the movie marks a career-best for Franco.

That's not to say it isn't amusing - plenty of The Disaster Artist will have you keeling over in laughter. You'll have'ta look twice to tell Wiseau and Franco apart.
