Paris, LA will host Olympics

International Olympic Committee members raised their hands as International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach had the two mayors, Anne Hidalgo of Paris and LA's Eric Garcetti, standing next to him - and then handed them the cards "Paris 2024" and "Los Angeles 2028" typically used to announce host cities.

Paris is set to take its place alongside London as the only three-time hosts of the Summer Games in 2024.

Paris and Los Angeles bid leaders joined International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach on stage as the award was confirmed, embracing after an outcome hailed as a "win-win-win" by the IOC.

Wasserman, mayor Eric Garcetti and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix are presenting, as the IOC prepares to award 2024 to Paris and 2028 to LA later this afternoon. These events reflected sporting and Olympic values, such as respect and friendship, and also highlighted the attractiveness of France - which plays host to many major sporting events -, as well as French innovation and expertise, and the French language, one of the IOC's two official languages.

It will be the third time that Los Angeles hosts the Olympics, with the first two happening in 1932 and 1984.

This time, no unpleasant surprises for Los Angeles and Paris.

Official Trailer Released for THE DISASTER ARTIST, Starring James Franco
The Disaster Artist is based on Greg Sestero's memoir of the same title, in which the actor recalls making The Room with Wiseau. That's not to say it isn't amusing - plenty of The Disaster Artist will have you keeling over in laughter.

"These are two great cities from two great countries with a great Olympic history".

"L.A.is a city where the Games are not a barrier to making progress; we know that they are an accelerating force to re-envisioning a better city and a better world in the days ahead as we welcome you back to the City of Angels", he said, mentioning his 5-year-old daughter Maya, who will be 16 when the Olympics kick off in the city in 2028. The IOC made a decision to award two games at the same time, and LA later abandoned its bid for 2024 during negotiations with the IOC and Paris. As we look beyond our Tokyo comeback, these two hosts represent the best of both worlds for WBSC: "a city full of growth potential in Paris, and in LA a global capital of baseball and softball in our sports' largest market". The last time it hosted the games was in 1924.

The smooth finish to the race also eliminates the risk of the vote being tainted by the sort of scandal that has embroiled the ballot for the 2016 Olympics. It seeks to streamline the Games, most notably by eliminating billion-dollar stadiums and infrastructure projects that have been underused, if used at all, once the Olympics leave town.

With a responsible and controlled budget, these Olympic Games will have an estimated economic impact of €10.7 billion for the period 2017-2034, according to a study by the Center for Law and Economics of Sport.

IOC chief Bach meanwhile said the Olympic movement had secured the result "we were looking for".
