Intel 8th Gen Coffee Lake Core i3, i5 and i7 Processors Announced

This new 8 Gen family line-up introduces the world's first-ever 6-core Intel Core i5 desktop processor and first-ever 4-core Intel Core i3 desktop processor.

As a cap on the months of rumors, speculation and very bad coffee puns, Intel officially announced its 8th generation Core desktop processors this morning. The top of the line i7-8700K and i7-8700 have six cores and 12 threads. For content creators, 4K 360-degree videos can be edited up to 32 percent faster when compared to last-gen processors, while on the content consumer side of things, Intel has implemented better tech for streaming of 10-bit, HDR UHD videos for sites that offer such services like Netflix and Amazon Prime. The entry-level i3 model now comes with four cores (up from two); the midrange Core i5 has six (up from four); and Core i7 chips now offer six cores with hyper-threading. Retail pricing will, naturally, be higher in all case.

The new processors will go on sale on 5th October and you can see them in new laptops and machines by the end of the year.

Alongside Intel's latest hexa-core processors is the launch of Intel's first ever four-core i3 processors - the 8350K and 8100.

Once the heaviest woman, Eman Ahmed passes away
Eman Ahmed Abdulati, once known as " world's heaviest woman " passed away in UAE on Monday at 4.35 am due to health complications. But after her family fell out with docs at Saifee hospital in May, she was later flown to Abu Dhabi's Burjeel hospital .

As you can see from the previous table, compared to the previous 7th generation, the new 8th generation has both the higher core count and higher Turbo clocks, and lower base clock, while the TDP remained almost the same, at least in the high- and mid-range segment. As usual, the processors will range from the Core i3 to the Core i7 variants for the different range of users.

Intel's newest processor has been built fit for content creators, gamers and over clockers that need the most premium performance. Coffee Lake also brings along official support for DDR4-2666 memory speeds, a nice bump up from the DDR4-2400 and DDR4-2133 speeds that were supported by the Z270 and Z170 chipsets, respectively.

Coffee Lake's extra cores and more advanced overclocking capabilities come with one catch: the chips require an updated power delivery system, and that means it can't be used with existing motherboards.

Intel also boasted that the lead processor in this generation, the Intel Core i7-8700K, will be Intel's best gaming desktop processor ever. This new Core i7-8700K will be offering 25% additional in frames per second running "Gears of War 4" of Microsoft vs. with its 7 Generation Core i7-7700K, which is a 4 core, 8 thread part. Also coming with Coffee Lake-S are the new Z370 motherboards.
