Mi Mix 2 Bezel-Less Smartphone from Xiaomi Launched In India

Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India said, "With Mi MIX, we gave everyone a glimpse of what the phone of the future would look like".

The phone features a metal unibody build with minimal bezels. It technically doesn't have any bezels around the top and sides leaving only a prominent bezel at the bottom.

Camera performance is something Mi Mix 2's future will depend on- it offers great display, gorgeous design, top-notch hardware, but what about the camera? The company says the display has a pixel density of 403ppi, and is complete with DCI-P3 colour gamut support. The company held the phone's India launch on Tuesday at an event in New Delhi. The device will run Android Nougat 7.1.1-based MIUI 8 out of the box. The device will definitely get the Android Oreo 8.0 update soon. The company aims to compete with the likes of Apple, LG, and Samsung with the Mi Mix 2, and offer a bezel-less screen experience at a relatively affordable price of Rs. 35,999. The smartphone also has scratch-resistant feature and in China it was launched in three variants - 54, 128 and 256 Gb.

In terms of optics, there is a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and 4-axis OIS.

The highlight of the display is that Xiaomi has removed the earpiece giving the screen more area. It's just that the Mi Mix 2 is a premium play in a segment where Xiaomi is new. Connectivity features of the phone are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type C and Global Positioning System. But yeah, it skips a few classic Xiaomi features such as the IR Blaster, FM, and the headphone jack. Quick charge 3.0 is supported on a non-removable 3400 mAh battery. Apart from the design, the Mi Mix boasts of top-of-the-line specifications such as a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM AND 128GB of storage. There was no mention of any other variants at the launch event. And barring the Mi 5, which is available in India if one really goes looking for it, Xiaomi hasn't really brought any of its blockbuster phones to the country. However, the October 17 sale is a preview one and users will have to pre-register for the same. The handset was announced in first week of September and is now available in a number of markets all around Europe. The Mi Mix 2 features all the latest and greatest specifications that are found in flagship smartphones this year, but how is it to use in real-life?
