2016-2017 Tesla Model X: Recall Alert

"During recent internal testing, Tesla determined that a small number of cables in the second row fold-flat seats in some 2016 and 2017 Model X vehicles may need to be adjusted", Tesla told CNBC in a statement.

Tesla says that it hasn't had any reports of issues relating to the seat problem, but will be conducting a voluntary recall.

Repairs of the seats will be undertaken by Tesla's new mobile service.

The issue was traced to a latch that could cause the seat on the left side of the second row to fall forward in the event of an crash.

The Model X has suffered quality issues in the past, but the voluntary recall reiterates a notable habit of Tesla to act quickly on even minor issues, even after just a single incident. Owners can stake their cars to a Tesla Service Center if they prefer. The Palo Alto, California-based automaker says some cables in the seat may have been improperly tightened, which prevents the left seat from locking in an upright position and it could move forward during a crash.
