BSNL partners Micromax to launch 4G feature phone for Rs 2200

The Indian state-owned telecom giant BSNL has unearthed a lucrative unlimited calling and data plan against only RS. 97/month for the buyers of the Bharat phone manufactured by Micromax.

"Both Micromax and BSNL have been working with the aim of bringing the next wave of unconnected users on the Internet". The Indian handset maker joins the ranks of Reliance Industries' 4G Volte featurephone JioPhone which is being sold for a Rs 1,500, refundable after three years. Essentially, the Bharat 1 comes bundled with a Rs 97 BSNL Unlimited Plan, in which users get unlimited calling hours, unlimited data, free roaming and free SMS, with a one-month validity. The phone is a direct competition to the Reliance JioPhone with such kind of specs and price.

Currently, only Reliance and Airtel provide 4G VoLTE services in India and BSNL is planning to launch their own service from January 2018. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to ensure a lag-free performance. It features a 2-megapixel camera on the back side, and a VGA camera upfront. The smart feature phone is powered by a 2,000mAh battery. The phone comes preloaded with "Micromax Entertainment" app which offers Live TV, music, movies and videos. The dumb-phone also supports more than 22 languages for ease of use. The phone is aimed to target the 500 million feature phone users market in India and will be available for purchase starting 20 October.

Nick tweeted: 'Ahh! Congratulations to my brother. and sister in law to be on your engagement. "I love you both so much". The Jonas Brothers star took to Instagram on Sunday to announce he had proposed to the Game Of Thrones actress.

The phone comes with a BSNL SIM card but the device supports dual-SIMs which means the phone is not only restricted to BSNL's network. So, it is no surprise that the Bharat-1 costs only Rs 2,200. Reliance Jio's effectively free offering of low-priced 4G enabled VoLTE handset has triggered a new form of handset revolution in the Indian telecom sector, and now BSNL is the latest contender in this new-age telecom war.

"Connecting the last mile - to the Internet and relevant information - is an important part of the strategy for both BSNL and Micromax". "We will now take this vision forward with Bharat 1 and create a compelling proposition for the users that is a first in the category". Bharat 1 will be completely manufacture in India.
