NYPD says it is building rape case against Harvey Weinstein

New York Police Department's (NYPD) chief of detectives said a woman approached them last week, saying the alleged incident took place seven years ago.

Actress Paz de la Huerta, who claims the Hollywood producer raped her twice in her apartment, has been interviewed by police in New York City.

De la Huerta has been locked in a legal battle with Lionsgate over her work in the movie Nurse 3D.

Detectives say her story is believable and have corroborated parts of her story.

His comment raised the prospect that Weinstein could be arrested if he returns to his native NY from Arizona, where he has been undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation centre. "We're happy with where the case is right now".

She told CBS that Weinstein offered to give her a ride back to her apartment after a party in October 2010 because they lived in the same neighborhood. De la Huerta says Weinstein started by trying to kiss her, but when she brushed him away, "He pushed me onto the bed and his trousers were down and he lifted up my skirt".

She says Weinstein insisted they have drinks. She said the second rape occurred in December 2010 after Weinstein showed up at her apartment.

Sessions, however, did attend, and he and Papadopoulos sat next to each other, according to the source who was in the room. Gordon said Papadopoulos also offered to appear on the Sunday talk show circuit on behalf of Trump but was turned down.

The force also said it is investigating James Toback, the film-maker who has reportedly been accused of sexual harassment by more than 200 women, including actresses Julianne Moore, Selma Blair and Rachel McAdams.

"He finished what he did, and he told me he'd be calling me", she said.

A person who answered the phone and said he was a manager at the Chestnut Fine Foods & Provisions restaurant in Phoenix said Weinstein dined there Thursday night.

Is there enough evidence for prosecutors to file charges against Weinstein?

Weinstein has not commented on the latest accusation but has repeatedly denied allegations of non-consensual sex.

He said the NYPD was working on the case with the Manhattan district attorney's office.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance has assigned a senior sex crimes prosecutor to the case, spokeswoman Joan Vollero said.
