Instead, a five-year contract has been signed with the West Indies cricket board.

Earlier, the tour, which was due to take place in November, was postponed due to adverse weather conditions in Lahore. A third team will also play the USA series.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi revealed the news at a press conference in Lahore, at which he also said Pakistan and Windies had agreed to play a series of T20 contests over the next five years, in Pakistan and the USA.

"The WICB has confirmed that the full national team will visit Pakistan in 2018 and participate in three T20I matches on March 29, 31 and April 1, respectively", said Sethi.

In return, Pakistan and West Indies will play a series in US in 2018 which will be a tri-series.

Following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009 outside the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, global teams didn't tour the country due to security fears.

The attack injured six Sri Lankan players and killed six security personnel and two civilians and Pakistan have since played nearly all of their "home" matches in the United Arab Emirates.

"I wanted to reveal this [agreement] so that it would become clear that the visits to Pakistan by worldwide teams are not one-time affairs, and the five-year contract with West Indies explains our position", he said.

Sethi stressed on the need to have the big game at Karachi's National Stadium during the PSL draft in Lahore on Sunday (November 12), adding that he hoped the renovation work at the stadium would be completed in time for the event. "And if you look at it, a three-nation tournament will attract a lot of interest", Sethi ended.
