Three militants, believed to be foreigners associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed in the encounter.

The gun battle was ongoing till the filing of this report.

However, no fresh contact has been established with militants by forces today.

"We started operation at midnight on specific information of terrorists hiding in Magam".

He said the militants were asked to surrender but they opened fire on security forces.

Following the encounter, DGP J&K Police SP Vaid congratulated the security forces on Twitter.
