The move comes in addition to closing about 250 stores announced previous year.

The company says employees at 64 Kmart stores and 39 Sears stores were notified Thursday that it was closing the stores between early March and early April.

PLATTSBURGH | The Kmart on Center Drive in Plattsburgh is among the stores marked for closure by the retail chain. Their parent company, Sears Holdings, hasn't turned a profit since 2010 and warned in 2017 there was "substantial doubt" that it will be able to stay in business.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as January 12, Sears officials said.

During the most recent closings, the company shuttered Kmarts in Whitehall and South Whitehall Townships.

"In the process, as previously announced we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preference of our members".
