Cleveland Browns poach Packers personnel exec Eliot Wolf

In Green Bay, Wolf's main duties included coordinating the pro and college football departments; evaluating players in the NFL and college via film study; and managing the team's involvement in visits with college players, attendance at pro days, the annual NFL Scouting Combine, and the various college all-star games, including the Senior Bowl. Wolf will hold the title assistant general manager for the Browns, according to multiple reports.

Cleveland now has a very distinct Green Bay feel to its front office.

Wolf was in high demand after being passed over for the general manager's job with the Green Bay Packers. He will be a vice president in Cleveland's personnel department. "Adding Eliot and Alonzo to our personnel leadership group, that already includes Andrew Berry, will strengthen us and help us develop into the type of personnel department we need to achieve the success our great fans deserve".

A former National Football League running back, Highsmith spent 19 years in Green Bay's scouting department. And the Pack didn't have to look far when it came to Thompson's successor. Dorsey (2000-2012) and Eliot (2004-17) were there for part of it.

The CIA declined to comment. "Another FP (foreign policy) blunder for the Trump administration", Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted. At Friday rallies in Iran, pro-government demonstrators chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel".

The Browns are now setup for the front office to do just that.

Gutekunst was scheduled to interview for the Houston Texans' general manager position on Sunday. A new coordinator would presumably have input on the rest of the offensive staff, and though nothing has been made official a person with knowledge of the situation told The Athletic, he expects at least two members of the Browns' 2017 coaching staff to eventually pursue other opportunities.

The 35-year old Wolf hoped to be named the Packers new GM after Ted Thompson stepped aside but the team promoted Brian Gutekunst instead. He'll be the assistant GM for the Browns. In that time, Dorsey worked with Wolf's son, Eliot.
