Jacob Eason announces he is leaving Georgia

Former five-star recruit Jacob Eason is expected to transfer to Washington, according to a report. Eason was injured in their 2017 opener and replaced by another true freshman, Jake Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship and locked up the starting job for 2018 and beyond.

If Eason does in fact transfer, he will be forced to sit out the 2018 college football season before being eligible to suit up in 2018. The Lake Stevens, Wash., native passed for 2,430 yards and 16 touchdowns with eight interceptions as a freshman at Georgia. He'd rather go somewhere else where he can play, and heading home to Washington makes sense.

"Thank you UGA for an incredible two years", Eason wrote on Twitter. In limited time this past season, Eason completed four of seven passes for 28 yards. He was immediately replaced under center by freshman Jake Fromm, who came so close to leading the Bulldogs to their first national title in almost four decades. Eason attended nearby Lake Stevens High School.

Eason was recruited heavily by UW but had made an oral commitment to Georgia well before signing day. Second-year Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart has pieced two, Top 3 recruiting classes with an emphasis of keeping the state's best talent at home. A dual-threat quarterback, Fields announced he plans to enroll at Georgia this winter, allowing him to participate in spring football.

While no official decision is made, Georgia is looking crowded and Washington may need a quarterback for the 2019 season.

The Bulldogs then finished the season with a national championship berth.

Give credit to Eason, however, he never issued any frustration with losing his spot or not being played against Auburn in the Dawgs lone regular-season loss in a game where Fromm was mostly ineffective.
