Sheriff McBrayer said one deputy is in serious condition and the other is in fair condition.

- A police officer has been involved in a shooting in Henry County, according to the Henry County Police Department.

Three law enforcement officers were shot while serving a warrant in central Georgia Friday morning, one fatally, officials say.

A Locust Grove officer then arrived on the scene to assist.

The suspected shooter is dead, according to media reports.

He resisted and they called for backup.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the slain officer as Chase Maddox, 26, who worked for the Locust Grove Police Department since he was 22.

The creatures are less than a quarter-inch long (5.5 millimeters) including their tails, which account for half that length. The studies appeared Monday in the peer-reviewed British journal Nature Ecology & Evolution.

Both of the deputies are at Atlanta Medical Center.

At a press conference on Friday afternoon, Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer said: 'You never know when you go to take somebody into custody what kind of response you are going to get.

Corley's brother Wade asked for prayers for the officers' families and said he felt lucky his brother was not more seriously hurt.

The brother said the bullet hit Deputy Corley's vest, which saved his life.

"They notified radio and a Locust Grove city police officer came to be a backup for them", McBrayer said during a news briefing.

Police blocked off the subdivision and were not letting those who don't live there enter.

Nearby Locust Grove Elementary School was put on lockdown.
