Sajjan said that Sohi and he "neither sympathize with nor espouse the Sikh nationalist movement, which is bent on creating a separate country called Khalistan in India's Punjab region", according to the Times of India.

Trudeau will also participate in several business roundtables to promote further trade and investment between Canada and India. This gesture underlined the depth of the bilateral relations, he said.

"Trudeau, his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, and their three children visited the Taj Mahal yesterday while Uttar Pradesh chief minister (Yogi) Adityanath was nowhere in sight", the newspaper account reads. However, senior cabinet members, including Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan and Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi clarified recently that they are not Khalistan supporters. Trudeau once famously remarked that he had more Sikhs in his cabinet than Modi did in his. Instead, the Trudeaus were escorted by the Agra district magistrate and some other local administrators.

The Canadian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Feb 23.

As if that wasn't bad enough, whom did the Centre send to the airport to receive Trudeau?

The development came after there was an uncertainty over whether the Canadian premier would hold a meeting with Amarinder Singh during his short visit to Amritsar on February 21.

Netanyahu will visit the White House next month, a senior USA administration official told AFP on Friday, February 16. The Hamas-run health ministry said at least two people were wounded.

Accompanied by his family, the 46-year-old prime minister arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

Visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he shared stark similarities with United States of America President Donald Trump on the economic front.

Not the kind of reception befitting a rockstar, said Indian media.

He said, "When I was the Cabinet minister, I had met Prime Ministers (I.K.) Gujral, Manmohan Singh and (A.B.) Vajpayee and raised the issue of punishment for those behind the 1984 riots".

Throughout the city of Ahmedabad, billboards and banners with Trudeau's and Modi's photos and the slogan "Long Live India-Canada Friendship" lined the motorcade route.

Canada has an estimated 1.4 million people of Indian origin.

As it now stands, Sajjan is not part of the meeting, though details are still being worked out on that front, Trudeau said in Mumbai on Monday. With PM Modi not receiving his Canadian counterpart at the airport, a courtesy he extended to some world leaders in the past, his visit has fuelled speculation that it was a snub to him for the rising Sikh radicalism in that country.
