Porsche has revealed its most powerful naturally aspirated 911 model to date, with the second generation of its 991 GT3 RS.

Porsche promises a more exciting drive from the GT3 than before and says that the car's engine management system is new, with even more immediate response from the already sharp accelerator pedal.

When Andreas Preuninger, head of GT cars at Porsche, talks about the new 911 GT3 RS he mimes out the motions of steering a vehicle with fingertips. Porsche, too, knows this for a fact and that's why this naturally breathing 911 is still alive, while the rest of the range has taken the forced induction route. The ducts on the hood channel cool air to the rakes.

However the rear seats of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS also gets tipped out and the boring sound materials are been removed. At the rear, the large wing mounted and underbody diffuser help increase the amount of downforce.

During last year's Geneva International Motor Show, Porsche introduced the updated 911 GT3. The interior comes with carbon-fibre bucket seats, lightweight door panels with storage nets and opening loops, reduced sound dampening and a new lightweight rear lid. The performance-orientated engine combines with a running-gear setup, featuring re-calibrated rear-axle steering designed, for maximum driving dynamics and precision.

The GT3 RS is as close to a race auto as it is possible to be.

As such, the flat-six at the back of the track special has jumped from 500 to 525 hp. Porsche also massaged more torque out of the engine the vehicle uses with 346 lb-ft, a bump of 8 lb-ft compared to the outgoing model.

PORSCHE has delivered what is likely to be the final installation in the 991.2 911 legacy with an even faster GT3 RS that has more power, a revised chassis and optimised weight for a track-focused edge that promises to topple records in typical motorsport-derived Porsche fashion.

The designer of the facelifted Porsche 911 GT3 RS added modified lighting units and latest side skirts. As is customary for a Porsche GT model, the ride height, toe, camber, caster and sway bar settings of the suspension can be adjusted to suit individual driver preferences. There are also new lightweight wheels which measure 20-inch up front and 21-inch at the rear wrapped wider tires. With all of these boxes ticked and equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, the GT3 RS has a curb weight of just 3153 lbs.

What is extra is the Weissach Package, which shaves off 30kg using ideas developed for the GT2 RS, including magnesium wheels, carbon fibre for the roof, anti-roll bars, steering wheel trim and gearshift paddles and a titanium roll cage. Magnesium wheels as well as additional carbon components for the chassis, interior and exterior.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS will surface at Germany in April. It also effectively makes more than the GT2 RS, because while both make the same maximum downforce at top speed-750 lbs with wings in their stock settings, 992 lbs at maximum attack-the top speed of the latter is much higher, 211 miles per hour verses 193 miles per hour. The MSRP is $187,500, not including available options or the $1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee. The vehicle will be available in the fall of 2018 with the magnesium wheels and Weissach Package available later.
