McDonald's Brings Back Szechuan Sauce After Last Year's Uproar

Well, today via a new website called We Want The Sauce, McDonald's announced that they will be revealing details about the Szechuan sauce's return on Thursday, February 22nd as part of a three-part podcast titled "The Sauce".

On Thursday, the fast-food chain announced that every McDonald's location across the United States will start serving Szechuan nugget sauce on Monday, February 26.

McDonald's is determined to squeeze every last drop of sweet, tangy publicity out of its Szechuan Sauce.

"We did not anticipate the overnight crowds, the cross-state travel and the unbelievable curiosity, passion and energy fans showed", read a statement from McDonald's.

However, McDonald's is having another crack at bringing Szechuan Sauce back. Fans were disappointed. People wept.

Measles cases soar across Europe, WHO urges greater immunization
The surge included large outbreaks (100 or more cases) in 15 of the 53 countries, but Ireland was not included. A 2015 outbreak across multiple states is believed to have originated with a traveler who visited Disneyland.

McDonald's capitalized on it with a stunt on October 7, but the sauce was only available for one day at a few locations. We all have our Szechuan sauce-for some, it's a comic; for others it's a Comic-Con Funko Pop. Many who lined up at McDonald's locations throughout Manhattan and Queens took their anger to social media when the "super-limited batch" quickly sold out locally.

But that's not all: According to the tweet, the company also launched an entire companion podcast called "The Sauce" to answer its fans' "burning" questions regarding the condiment, and to discuss all-things Szechuan Sauce. Szechuan sauce will be available while supplies last with a "qualifying purchase" such as McNuggets or chicken tenders.

Beginning at lunchtime on Monday, it's back on the menu everywhere, including in Lexington.

The fast food giant said today it's sending more than 20 million packets of Szechuan sauce to McDonald's restaurants, instead of just sending out three or four packets to select restaurants.
