President Donald Trump is set to attend the funeral for famed evangelist Rev. Billy Graham in North Carolina on Friday.

Bush and his wife, Laura, were in Charlotte for a short time Monday to pay their respects to the late Reverend Billy Graham.

Franklin Graham said he was fulfilling a promise to his father to bring the body to Charlotte. His body will then be taken to the US Capitol, where he will be the first private citizen to lie in honour there since civil rights hero Rosa Parks in 2005.

- George H.W. Bush said in a statement reported by the Houston Chronicle, "Billy Graham was America's pastor".

"If there's such a thing as a humble shepherd of the Lord, Billy Graham is that person", Bush said.

The public may see Graham's closed casket at the Homeplace between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

China's Geely Is Buying $9 Billion Stake in Daimler
The deal means Geely is now the biggest shareholder in Daimler which owns Mercedes-Bens and makes trucks and vans. Mercedes-Benz sold more cars in China than any other market a year ago , some 600,000 cars and SUVs, he said.

Outside of the expected delay, the shuttle service was a model of efficiency with visitors funneling in and out as they paid respect to the former Reverend, Dr. Billy Graham.

Graham's funeral will be held on Friday in a private ceremony. I've eaten a lot of Big Macs in my life, but only once with Billy and Ruth Graham in their home as he reminisced about hosting Muhammad Ali for lunch in 1979. I am unbelievably blessed to have met him. "Billy Graham and Dad were great buddies and I know he wished he could come too, but he's not moving around much these days". His coffin was built by inmates at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, Louisiana, who typically construct caskets for fellow prisoners who can not afford one. A spokesman for Bush announced last week that the couple would not be able to attend the funeral Friday due to a "longstanding scheduling commitment".

Bush recounted several additional memories of Graham as well, including the evangelist's message at the National Cathedral three days after terrorists attacked the USA on September 11, 2001, and the occasion Graham mediated a theological dispute between Bush and his mother, then-First Lady Barbara Bush.

It was moved and restored by his library and is on the same campus as the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

"It's quite an honor", said one woman who traveled from Virginia.
