The confluence of these lunar events earned the name "super blue blood moon". However, there will be two full moons in March. Those who live in the Southern Hemisphere, however, the upcoming full moon will be the final full moon of the summer season.

The Blue Moon of March or Sap Moon has another significance as it helps to fix the date of Easter - April 1 - the Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox.

The last full moon happened on January 31 and was quite spectacular-not only was the moon full, but it was a "supermoon" and there was a lunar eclipse.

March 1st marks the last Full Moon of winter 2018.

The Farmers Almanac began using Native American names for the moon cycle in the 1930s, according to NASA. The March 31st moon is called the Sap Moon - get that maple syrup collected!

If you miss this worm moon altogether, you will still have a second chance to catch one this month.

An alternative name for March's full Moon is the Full Sap Moon, as this is the time of year when the sap of sugar maples starts to flow. Firstly, during full worm moon, the moon will be in the constellation Leo at 13-degrees towards the eastern horizon where its illumination will be at its maximum.

This month, we'll see two full moons light up the sky. It happens about once every 2.7 years, so having two blue moons in the same year is unusual.

Blue Moon phenomenon are incredible spectacles where the body appears to have a bluish tint, due to dust particles in the atmosphere.
