The warning, heralding the third nor'easter for the area in as many weeks, is in effect for portions of northern CT, western, central, eastern and southeastern MA, and all of Rhode Island.

Damage to trees and power lines is possible, since snow will be accompanied with strong to damaging winds, especially over southeast MA and Rhode Island.

The Taunton forecasters, who put a winter storm watch in place from 8 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday, expect the Tuesday morning commute to be hard if not impossible, with snow falling at a rate of between 1 and 3 inches an hour. Less than an inch of snow is expected after midnight Tuesday.
