Apple to fix blabbermouth Siri bug that reads your private notifications aloud

Hopefully Apple will fix the bug ASAP, because the illusion of security is arguably more unsafe than no security at all.

"We are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update", Apple said in a statement given to the publication. I tried out the same on my iPhone 7 also running the latest iOS and Siri read out all my hidden messages on notifications without unlocking my phone. As for iOS 11.3 beta versions, the bug can be fixed by the time the final version comes out.

The report also found that the bug exists in both iOS 11.2.6 which is now the latest stable version and the beta of iOS 11.3 which is due to release in Spring 2018.

We've reached out to Apple and will update this story if we receive a response.

City Priorities Shine Through in FY18 Omnibus Spending Bill
The Senate passed the bill by a vote of 65-32 after a heated session stretched into the early hours on Friday. All military personnel get a 2.4% pay hike in the bill while civilian federal employees get a 1.9% pay raise.

If you use a feature baked into iOS 11 that lets you hide messages, you might be disappointed to learn that Siri isn't so good at keeping that content hidden. The smart assistant won't even confirm if it is the owner of the device. Without checking if it was the user issuing the command, Siri would begin to reel off all of the notifications aloud, including those designated as hidden. It's worth pointing out that iMessage and SMS texts were still kept private from being read out loud, but apps like Facebook Messenger, Slack and email apps could all have their messages read out loud by Siri. Probably, the issue seems to affect messaging notifications.

In order to disable Siri on the lock screen, head to Settings Siri & Search Allow Siri When Locked.

There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details.

Now comes word that a pesky Siri bug provides people with an avenue to look at the content of lock screen notifications without authorization.
