The company says that a limited number of these MacBook Pro models, units feature a component, that can fail and in reaction can cause the built-in battery to expand. Owners of MacBook Pro notebooks built in the date range mentioned before can go to the Apple support page for this issue and a tool is provided to check if the notebook is eligible for a battery replacement.

Apple's battery scandal has some new confessions to make. Eligibility for the battery replacement program is linked to the serial number of the laptop.

A few other details of the battery replacement program include that standard warranties will not be extended, and that replacements will be offered for five years after the first retail release of the non Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro. The company said a component failure may lead to battery expansion, and that affected devices can get their battery replaced.
