The Ivory Coast midfielder has gone onto win three Premier League titles and two League Cups but says that win over United was the start of City becoming the top club in Manchester.

Toure announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season after 229 Premier League appearances for the club, which coincided with City's most successful period in their history.

Now, even though Toure has effectively been a bit-part player this season, the club are determined to give him one more memorable night after playing such a major role in them winning eight trophies in eight years since moving from Barcelona.

I said to Garry Cook [City's former chief executive who signed Toure], "One day a lot of players are going to want to come to City".

"Seeing a football club do something like that for one player is very special, to keep you alive and to say thank you". The step forwards the club have been taking. Hopefully he can stay in football and come back maybe here. It will be a tough ask to better their league performance, but perhaps it will be in the knockout tournaments - and one in particular - where City fans will see the biggest change next season.

But with the goalless draw played to a backdrop of beeps and screeches from a misfiring fire alarm system, failing to score at home for the first time this season in the league was just another predictable part of the celebratory afternoon for City fans.

"This is our challenge and I want to be as good as we can in these (two remaining) games".

Zidane hopeful Ronaldo will be fit for Champions League final
Just as Suarez initiated his goal, so did Ronaldo, a neat backheel freeing Toni Kroos, who found Karim Benzema at the back post. We will look tomorrow and see what damage has been done, he is a little bit anxious (about Kiev) but says it's something minor.

The Ivorian has eyes on staying in England this summer and Guardiola believes he has something to offer.

"Now it's time to finish well and then start to talk about what we have to do next season, who is staying and who we have to buy".

"Every midfielder has different attributes but the best players are the ones you fear, and I certainly did that when I was up against Yaya".

Maybe I was wrong this season. They deserve it. They have been so long in the shadows of United and now they live in this city like they are the kings.

On the one hand they looked a little lethargic, misplaced passes and didn't have their shooting boots on. Sometimes I miss my road and go to Carrington.

"I think it's taken an exceptional season from Salah to win it [Player of the Season] ahead of De Bruyne. Of course, I will continue to come in and this is going to be the hard part - playing against City".
