The Steam Link app will let Steam users stream their games to Android and iOS devices, including smart TVs, phones and tablets. It will let you play Steam games on iOS and tvOS. The Android version will be released in a beta version at first, even if the announcement is unclear on whether this will be before or after the official launch. This app will soon be joined by two new ones: the Steam Link App and the Steam Video App.

The app works much like the standalone Steam Link device, as well as the Steam Link feature already offered through PC and Mac. Just like Valve's streaming box of the same name, Steam Link simply streams your games library to your device. The app will also work with the Steam Controller.

Valve still recommends a 5GHz wireless connection, or an ethernet connection for optimal performance. This may not sound overly impressive compared to many other streaming options on the market, but Steam does host a surprisingly large selection of video content.

Valve will launch a pair of new mobile apps in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Video app is now scheduled for the broad release window of "later this summer". Steam Video will allow users to watch movies from their collection over Wi-Fi or LTE service, and offers the ability to download and watch offline.
