Ford isn't the only automaker that's had to shut down production due to the fire.

The move means approximately 4,000 workers at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant will be temporarily laid off, joining roughly 3,600 workers at Ford's truck plant in Kansas City who were told to stay home earlier this week. Ford noted that while the F-150 and Super Duty trucks production is affected by the parts shortage, it had an 84-day supply of the vehicles on hand and that the supply should meet demand until production is back up and running.

How much could stopping production of the F-Series hurt Ford and dealers who rely on the popular pickup truck to generate huge sales? However, "the production shortage is expected to have an adverse impact on the company's near term results".

Ford Motor's quarterly revenues will be impacted by shutdowns at three USA truck plants resulted due to a fire at a key parts supplier, the US automaker stated on Wednesday, while confirming its full-year earnings estimate. The company suspended production at the two plants - the only ones that make the truck - after a fire at a supplier's facility caused it to run out of parts. It claimed the Alabama plant will burst per week on a "altered manufacturing program" whereas the auto-maker works with Meridian to restore components creation.

Ford shares closed down 1.9 percent at $11.06. The stock's 12-month price target is $12.37.
