Businesses catering to tourists on the cruise have taken a hit since the company suspended Big Island port visits after the eruption began. Ormat is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, and shares have fallen almost 10 percent since Kilauea began erupting. Residents have been concerned about hazards if the lava flowed over the plant's facilities, or if heat generated would interact with various chemicals used on-site.

At least 47 homes and other structures have been destroyed by almost two dozen fissures in the Leilani Estates and Lanipuna Gardens, and a man was seriously injured on Saturday by flying lava.

The company also says it believes the lava's movement towards the station has halted and if anything, the molten rock now seems to be going in the other direction: the probability of it approaching the plant seems low, Ormat said.

Ormat Technologies, which owns a 63 percent stake in the plant, announced it had taken several precautionary measures to protect the plant, including shutting down the geothermal wells, and that it so far has escaped serious physical damage. Earlier this month, officials removed 50,000 gallons (190,000 liters) of the gas from the plant to reduce the chance of explosions. "This activity has destroyed the former Hawaii Geothermal Project site", it said referring to the warehouse.

Geologists say the ongoing explosive eruptions are widening the vent inside Halema'uma'u Crater and causing part of the crater wall to subside.

Kilauea rumbled back to life on May 3 as it began extruding lava and sulphur dioxide emissions through a series of fissures, marking the latest phase of an eruption cycle that has continued almost non-stop for 35 years. Kilauea's summit is now belching 15,000 tons (13,607 metric tons) of the gas each day up from 6,000 tons (5443 metric tons) daily prior to the May 3 eruption.

WWE has announced that Kevin Owens will be challenging Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw in London. Since making his return to WWE, Bobby Lashley has actually been rather quiet on the main roster.

Kilauea's eruption on the Big Island began on May 3 at a distance of 24 kilometers from the plant. One man was seriously injured after being hit by a flying piece of lava. That was just incredibly powerful and hot.

Scientists say the methane can seep through cracks several feet away from the lava.

Clinton says a friend wrapped a sheet around his leg, dragged him down five flights of stairs, and called for help.

Doctors were able to save his leg, but he must stay off of it for six weeks.

Laze occurs when hot lava meets the ocean, sending a plume of hydrochloric acid and steam, along with fine glass particles, into the air. There has been continuous low-level ash emission from Kilauea's summit with larger explosions every few hours, said U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Mike Poland.
