The Justice Department declined comment Wednesday.

Gowdy's statements contradict the president, who has said the Federal Bureau of Investigation planted a "spy for political reasons and to help Crooked Hillary win".

"If I were the president and I picked someone to be the country's chief law enforcement officer, and they told me later, 'Oh by the way, I'm not going to be able to participate in the most important case in the office, ' I would be frustrated too", Gowdy said, according to Trump's tweets.

Asked to respond to Gowdy's remarks, a Fox News commentator known for defending the president also cast doubt on Trump's "Spygate" claims. Further expanding on his comments in a follow-up interview on Wednesday morning, Gowdy said on CBS "This Morning" that Trump's lawyers "have an obligation to go share with him" what lawmakers learned in the meeting to help tamp down his continued promotion of "Spygate".

Trump personal attorney Rudy Giuliani told the New York Times Wednesday that he hasn't discussed Sessions' recusal with the president, but he argued that requesting Sessions to take control of the Russian Federation investigation is within Mr. Trump's authority.

Trump has repeatedly pointed to, and at times embellished, reports that a longtime US government informant approached members of his 2016 campaign during the presidential election in a possible bid to glean intelligence on Russian efforts to sway the election.

"It's a Rigged Witch Hunt", Trump declared, questioning why prosecutors were not investigating his 2016 challenger, "the totally Crooked Campaign of totally Crooked Hillary Clinton".

"If they were there for some nefarious reason, the one Giuliani suggested, to gather data from the campaign and pass it to the West Wing and pass it to Mrs. Clinton, I'd want to see evidence of that before I made an allegation that outrageous", Napolitano concluded.

Golden Knights' epic intro for first Stanley Cup Final game
Heading into Game 1, Holtby had gone almost eight periods without allowing a goal, while Fleury had a.947 save percentage. This, of course, is one of UCF's longest running traditions and one Knight fans believe make them unique.

"I know you want to talk about the Obama administration, we're talking about the Trump administration", Camerota shot back.

"And I wish I did!"

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said he sees "no evidence" to support President Trump's claims that the FBI used an informant to gather information on his campaign, but that instead the federal probe was focused on "individuals with a history of links to Russian Federation that were concerning".

Trump himself has escalated his attacks on Mueller's investigation in recent weeks.

"The only way she filled up the arena was to get Jay-Z", he said to boos while recalling his 2016 victory at a campaign rally in Nashville.

Just as Mr. Comey kept memos on interactions with Mr. Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Mr. McCabe documented his own conversations with the president and others.

Since then, Trump has repeatedly berated Sessions for his decision. At the time, Sessions said he did not know of a specific reason as to why he should do so.

"I disagree with Trey Gowdy", Schlapp said.
