Mayweather who earned Dollars 275 million for his August fight with Conor McGregor is the highest paid athlete in the world for the fourth time in the last seven years.

Forbes's sporting rich list is created after calculating an athlete's earnings from prize money, salaries and bonuses in the year to 1 June 2018.

The latest Forbes top 100 highest-paid athletes listhas been released and there's a change at the very top.

No women have made it onto the list, with Serena Williams dropping out of the elite earners after taking time off due to pregnancy.

Though Conor McGregor was recently named the No. 4 highest grossing athlete by Forbes, he claims that he narrowly missed out on moving up to No. 2 on the list.

McGregor meanwhile vaulted up the rankings to fourth spot, thanks to his $85 million cut of the Mayweather purse.

Barcelona's Argentine star Messi narrowly surpassed Ronaldo after signing a new contract at Barcelona, but the Portuguese, Mayweather and golfer Tiger Woods - this year ranked 16th - remained the only three to top the best-paid list during the past 18 years.

Brazilian footballer Neymar was fifth on the list with $118 million in earnings, his salary boosted by his record-breaking transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain past year.

In the span of time between when Trump posted his tweet and when the jobs report was released, USA treasury yields shot up. Rules stipulate that no federal worker is allowed to comment on the jobs report until at least one hour after its release.

NBA star LeBron James is the highest-paid basketball player to feature on the list, coming in at sixth rank with total earnings of $112 million, just ahead of Roger Federer, who earned $102 million.

Swiss ace Federer remains the most attractive athlete for sponsors, with endorsement deals accounting for $65 million of his earnings.

There are 66 Americans and 40 basketball players on the list.

Another NFL quarterback, the Detroit Lions' Matthew Stafford rounded out the top 10 with $59.5 million.

Lewis Hamilton came in at number 12 with earnings of US$51m, making him the highest ranking racing driver on the list.

"No NHL players or Nascar drivers earned $20 million during the past year", the website said.

Kohli, the only sportsperson from India to be featured in the list, is ranked 83rd with earnings of Dollars 24 million. "You can't be what you can't see, and the lack of women in this list only perpetuates the myth that sport is man's game", she said.
