LeBron James agrees to 4-year, $154 million deal with Lakers

"LeBron James, the four time NBA MVP, three time NBA finals MVP, fourteen time NBA All Star, and two time Olympic gold medalist has agreed to a four year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers", the agency wrote in a release.

But this one? This one is ... odd.

Joel Embiid has made it no secret that he'd love LeBron James to link up with himself and Ben Simmons in Philly next season.

When LeBron is playing for a team other than the Cavs - his four seasons in Miami - FSU football had some of their most successful seasons since the dynasty era of the 1990s. Unfortunately, Bosh's career has been put on hold following the 2016-17 National Basketball Association season due to blood-clotting issues but not before the Heat's Big 3 had already been dismantled by the departure of James. The team was reportedly willing to offer James $38.25 million annual maximum salary over four years, ESPN wrote.

One thing that remains unclear is how much input LeBron James could have in the decision to replace Julius Randle, should he actually leave the Lakers.

It has been widely speculated for a year that James had his eye on Los Angeles, where he maintains an off-season residence and has myriad entertainment business ventures. And though the Lakers were the rumored destination for a long time, there was not reports of James holding a meeting with LA's brass. As SB Nation noted, there is not believed to be a lot of interest in Randle outside of Los Angeles (not at the price he would hope to fetch, at least), so he could end up back with the Lakers by default.

The 23rd-ranked team has always been a long-shot to win the Cup this year, having only progressed to the quarter-finals in 2014. He told the gathered media after the game, "It kind of pulled a muscle - it tore some fibres, I think".

"Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible four seasons", James wrote on his Instagram story.

This is the third time in eight years James has changed teams.

But the Warriors obtained Kevin Durant after that loss and Golden State has gone 8-1 against the Cavs in the two NBA Finals since.

Over the course of 22 appearances, he averaged 34.0 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.0 assists and led the Cavaliers to their fourth straight NBA Finals.

Those are the kind of figures that can help transform the Lakers from Western Conference also-rans into one of the league's most compelling clubs.
