LeBron James joining Los Angeles Lakers on 4-year, $154 million deal

LeBron James has agreed to a four-year contract worth more than $150 million with the Los Angeles Lakers, Klutch Sports Group announced on Sunday.

LeBron James' potential departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers has left fans biting their nails as they await his final decision.

Rumors of James' interest in joining the Lakers had ramped up over the last season as his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, struggled to make the NBA Finals with a below-average cast around the 14-time All-Star.

Representatives from the team will meet today with James' agent Rich Paul in Los Angeles, a person familiar with the plans told the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the talks.

The four-year commitment from James is stunning, however, and affords Magic Johnson and Co. a bit of patience they may not have had otherwise.

The image of the youngster blasting the ball off the post and back onto his face is now likely to haunt him for some time. Plenty of people want Michy Batshuayi's hilarious celebration on Federation Internationale de Football Association 19.

Missing out on James would certainly be a crushing blow for the Sixers since fans have been dreaming about the possibility of him playing alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, but at least the team would still have other options. Cleveland has lost to Golden State in the finals each of the last two years, and in three of the last four. If the Lakers strike out this summer, they are likely to try to make a splash in the summer of 2019.

James' move to the Lakers comes four years after he went back home to Cleveland, where he had stated his intention to finish his career with the Cavaliers.

There is no doubt that the addition of James immediately brings the Lakers back into the forefront of the National Basketball Association.
