Trump visit: London on LOCKDOWN as trip to spark protests

Hundreds of protesters are gathering in multiple locations across England following the arrival of US President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump will meet the US Ambassador at Winfield House after arriving and then head to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

"I'd like to see them be able to work it out so it could go quickly", he said. But instead of attending business in London, which is what most heads of state who arrive in the United Kingdom do, Trump will head to a business sector gala at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill which is outside the city.

There are also plans for protestors to gather close to the USA ambassador's residence in Regent's Park, where Trump and his wife, Melania, will stay overnight on Thursday.

However, despite the welcome from May, many Britons remain deeply opposed to Trump's visit.

"With a lot of resignations", Trump told a news conference at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

The biggest protests are set for Friday, when demonstrators plan to march through central London and float a huge balloon depicting Mr Trump as a baby in diapers over the Houses of Parliament.

The Stop Trump Coalition accused the president of being "too scared to face protestors".

"From the public, the welcome will be far from warm", he told lawmakers on Wednesday, noting there would be protests across the country against Trump's "abysmal record on human rights, his repugnant attitude towards women and his disgusting treatment of minorities". She said they will discuss security and defense, an aspect of the relationship that is causing anxiety for some British politicians.

Protests, pro-rallies planned across United Kingdom ahead of Trump's visit
The US ambassador was forced to deny that Trump's itinerary has been created to keep him away from protests expected in London . It will be a working visit, which will see him have meetings with the Prime Minister, British business leaders and the Queen.

Despite a series of diplomatic spats between Britain and Trump, the British government is hoping for a quick trade deal with the United States after it leaves the European Union.

Just hours after May's foreign minister, Boris Johnson, resigned and complained that the Brexit dream was being suffocated, Trump said he might speak to him during the trip.

He again postponed his visit in January this year after remarking that the relocation of the United States embassy in London was a "bad deal" made by President Obama, and that he was not interested in cutting the ribbon at the opening.

Donald Trump has arrived at London's Stansted Airport and will meet the Prime Minister and the Queen.

Mr Trump, who will also spend time with the Queen during his two-day working visit, added: "I think they agree with me on immigration".

10 Downing Street said she would be meeting with schoolchildren and veterans on Friday, accompanied by Philip May, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May's husband.

On Friday, May and Trump will hold talks on Brexit, relations with Russian Federation, and trade ties at the prime minister's Chequers country residence, followed by a press conference.

Nona Hurkmans, one of the activists behind the infantile inflatable of Trump, said the balloon was a fair response to Trump's own behavior and downplayed claims that Trump deserved more respect.

Most of the protests will take place that day in central London, the US officials said, with some occurring the days before and after.
