Star Trek: Discovery season 2 adds Spock, unveils first trailer

Star Trek: Discovery hopes to get a little classic Trek love with the introduction of the original USS Enterprise.

This was teased during the final moments of Season 1, where the Discovery was being hailed by Captain Pike.

There were light years to cover when the Star Trek: Discovery cast beamed into TVLine's San Diego Comic-Con interview suite on Friday. Anticipation for Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery is high, especially after some pretty interesting hints that were left. It was also confirmed that the new season will see the addition of Rebecca Romijn as the original Number One, and even an appearance by Spock!

"There is no shortage of compelling stories to tell in the Star Trek universe that inspire, entertain, and either challenge our preconceived ideas or affirm long held beliefs, and we are excited to broaden the universe already with Short Treks", Each episode will deliver closed-ended stories while revealing clues about what's to come on in future Star Trek Discovery episodes. The creative added that he and the rest of the Star Trek: Discovery crew know they "owe" fans "lot of answers about how this show connects to canon this season", and that viewers will get what they're after, just not in the way that they expect.

Russian 'agent' Maria Butina held in U.S. jail over conspiracy charges
Her lawyer, Robert Driscoll, called the allegations overblown and has denied that Butina is a Russian agent. Moscow denies US allegations it interfered in the election and Trump denies any campaign collusion.

As the trailer goes on, Pike and his new crew identify and try to find the source of seven mysterious red bursts that have suddenly popped up across the universe.

The trailer includes returning characters, including Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Saru, along with our first look at Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike and Tig Notaro as Chief Engineer Denise Reno.

The long-awaited first look at Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 has finally entered our orbit.
