Newcastle United have today snapped up West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.

The club had survived the drop and had Rafa Benitez for another year.

The Toon's frugality in the transfer market has been a source of frustration for their loyal fans for many years, with owner Mike Ashley repeatedly unwilling to fork out sums for players.

Newcastle have been chasing Rondon all summer but only wanted to take the striker on loan.

But it's not just the supporters who Ashley has angered over funds.

The matter further complicated by the fact that even players Rafa agrees to sell, the manager doesn't get the full sale price to spend in this transfer window. They are in disagreement with the club over bonuses they will receive for the upcoming season, and now they've started to protest.

Pedro always performed when called upon but started only 17 times last season under former manager Conte. Sarri said: "Loftus-Cheek I have seen him just for three, four trainings.

With the club's opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur less than a week away, the decision on the players' behalf not to speak to the media will come under widespread scrutiny if they uphold their stance.

Though the details of the dispute haven't been reported yet, for every single one of the players of the squad to join in the protest tells you something.

"You're a very courageous man if you go out and criticise the owners, which to be fair is what he's doing", The former England boss told talkSPORT.

"When I made a decision to stay here it was because it was a project".

"Then I will fight until the end. We'll see where we are and we will fight until the last minute, trying to improve the squad first then after that the team".

Rondon is the archetype of a Premier League striker.
