Trump says market would 'crash' if he were impeached

Media outlets are reporting that federal prosecutors have granted immunity to the executive in charge of the National Enquirer amid an investigation into hush-money payments made on behalf of President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump then launched into a rambling statement on job creation and other economic progress he said had been made during his presidency and insisted Americans would be much worse off if Hillary Clinton had won the 2016 election.

"You would see - you would see numbers that you wouldn't believe in reverse", he said.

President Donald Trump said he doesn't see a reason for Congress to impeach him but that the stock market would plummet and Americans would be poorer if lawmakers did so.

"You know, I guess it says something like "high crimes" and all".

Trump was responding to speculation that Democrats would seek to impeach the president should they re-take the House of Representatives in November's midterm elections.

In practice, an indictment is highly unlikely: Since 2000, the Justice Department position has been that a sitting president is "immune from indictment as well as from further criminal process".

Chief Executive Officer David Pecker met with prosecutors to describe Trump and Cohen's involvement in hush-money deals with adult-film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 USA presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.

Ohio State Urban Meyer update
Day didn't take any questions, but he did release a statement discussing Ohio State's progress this fall. An announcement on the status of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer appears to be set for next week.

On Wednesday, Michael Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, advertised when he was on Fox News and encouraged viewers to donate.

Trump also claimed the economy "is the best it's ever been in history", though there are some categories in which that is not accurate.

"Pecker's apparent decision to corroborate Cohen's account, and implicate Trump in a federal crime, is another vivid example of how isolated Trump is becoming", Sherman added, pointing out that Pecker and Trump had been close friends for years.

In the interview, Trump argued, incorrectly, that the hush-money payouts weren't "even a campaign violation" because he subsequently reimbursed Cohen for the payments personally instead of with campaign funds.

Why does Trump say the market would crash?

"In fact, I watched a number of [TV] shows".

In his first reaction to the Cohen bombshell, Trump asserted in a series of tweets that his former lawyer's campaign finance violations were "not a crime".

Both cases resulted, at least in part, from the work of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russia's attempts to sway voters in the 2016 election. "It nearly ought to be outlawed". Trump has denied having sex with Daniels or McDougal.
