Democratic primary voters on Thursday also choose candidates for attorney general and the state Legislature in the nation's final primary before Election Day.

Earlier this campaign season, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley both upset long-serving Democratic incumbent congressmen in nominating races in NY and MA, promising more vigorous liberal policies and highlighting their opposition to Republican President Donald Trump.

When confronted by a possibly horrified passerby, Nixon assured the witness that she knew what she was doing: "Yeah, sweet and salty, you're right". However, several outsider candidates challenging incumbent governors have fallen short during the nominating season.

Cuomo has a 41-point lead in the latest poll and a wide lead in fundraising, but, on closer inspection, Nixon could do better Thursday's vote than expected.

Veteran political operative Bob Shrum remembers a time when the polls showed an incumbent well ahead before a NY primary, but the challenger's more enthusiastic support swayed the outcome.

Still, Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf said Mr. Cuomo was given a gift when Ms. Nixon ran too far to the left. Cuomo has said she is inexperienced and naive. They might not think she can win, but a vote for her might convince be a warning to Cuomo to clean up his act.

It is these performances that have made Rodgers a living legend; but what further cemented it was his post-game interview. He caught fire when he returned to the game, throwing three touchdowns and leading the Packers to an exciting win.

Nixon would likely need a surge in voting activity in a state generally known for low turnout, especially in primaries, to win.

With registered Democrats outnumbering Republicans more than 2 to 1 in New York, Cuomo becomes the automatic front-runner in November's matchup against Republican Marc Molinaro and independent Mayor Stephanie Miner. He was endorsed by establishment figures in the Democratic Party, including former Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as most of the state's labor unions.

Part of that reform includes paroling and expunging the records of New Yorkers who were convicted of smoking or selling pot and using tax revenues from a nascent (decriminalized) weed industry to invest in communities that have been ravaged by the decades-long war on drugs. But Nixon tried to draw attention to a series of gaffes from the Cuomo campaign in recent weeks, such as when the governor said that "America was never that great" during an August rally and then quickly backtracked.

Outside Wadleigh High School in Harlem, four out of five voters who stopped to speak to AFP said they voted for Nixon. Unsuccessful in the challenge, and in a subsequent race for New York's 19th Congressional District seat in 2016, Teachout is now in the midst of a tight race for the state's Democratic attorney general nomination.

Underwood says she hopes it's clear the office "is the sum of all its staff".

"There are certainly ways we've been able to move the governor to the left, on criminal justice issues, on environmental issues, on political issues".
