China’s OnePlus launches smartphone in US

Hands On "We're not the cheeky upstart anymore", OnePlus told us at previews of the 6T flagship, its seventh, launched today. With the Oppo R17 and R17 Pro featuring a teardrop notch, chances are high that the OnePlus 6T will have one too, which means more screen real estate. The smartphone brings an updated design language such as a waterdrop display and an in-display fingerprint sensor, while keeping most of the hardware similar to the OnePlus 6. OnePlus has also introduced a new low-light photography feature called Nightscape for taking photos in low light, along with a 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 25mm wide-angle lens.

This new tech means the handset is slightly thicker and heavier than the OnePlus 6, but otherwise, the design remains largely unchanged; the 6T comes crafted nearly entirely from glass and it will be available in Mirror Black and Midnight Black colour options.

Coming to the specifications of the smartphone, the OnePlus 6T comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display at a 19.5:9 aspect ratio for great viewing angles.

Moving on the company put a lot of focus on the performance of the device.

The OnePlus 6T has the same dual-camera system on the back embedded in the frosted or mirror glass back.

Interestingly, there's no wireless charging capability included this time around - but you can be sure OnePlus is prepping that for the inevitable OnePlus 7.

OnePlus 6T: cut-price flagship launches with in-screen fingerprint sensor

The OnePlus 6T runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, with 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with 128GB and 256GB ROM variants.

The OnePlus 6T is available from November 6, starting at £499/$549 for the 6GB/128GB option. On the inside, OnePlus also did a pretty decent job of out doing themselves. The rear camera set is optically stabilized. It also doesn't include a headphone jack. While the older phone started with the base variant sporting 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the OnePlus 6T bumps up the storage to 128GB even on the base variant, while retaining RAM at 6GB.

The OnePlus 6T goes on wide sale on November 1 at T-Mobile. This OnePlus 6T event will confirm the phone's India price, as well as the sale details and offers through Amazon India, its exclusive partner.

OnePlus had to push its launch event for its next flagship from a day ahead to October 29 so that it does not clash with Apple's launch event on October 30. The company is bundling a USB Type-C port to 3.5mm adapter in the box. Across the globe, pop-ups will be held in 32 cities including New York, London, Paris, Milan and Beijing.

The biggest change comes in the form of the new fingerprint sensor. The event will also be watched at the official OnePlus 6T launch page, https://www.oneplus.in/6t/launch.

Free damage protection for 12 months from Kotak Servify will be given to all buyers as well.
