Lakers vs. Trail Blazers - Game Recap

There was no amount of "act like you've been there before" that could have prevented the Lakers from showing how happy Saturday's win made them.

PORTLAND, Ore. - With heightened attention on Luke Walton following his tense meeting with Magic Johnson, LeBron James said the coaching staff put the Los Angeles Lakers "in a position" to score perhaps their biggest victory of the season thus far. But I was pleased with how we came back and got within striking distance.

JaVale McGee added 16 points and 15 rebounds, Kyle Kuzma scored 18 and Brandon Ingram had 17 for the Lakers.

"The first and third quarters defensively we were pretty good and then we had two terrible quarters". Is Walton going to be fired?

The Lakers haven't posted a winning record since the 2012-2013 season.

United face the Serie A champions on Wednesday and Mourinho can not be certain whether the Belgium striker will be ready to travel.

This was the second straight game in which the Lakers avoided a collapse. "All that matters is what goes on in this locker room both home and away". But hearing Bron credit his coaching after the Lakers' win against the Portland Trail Blazers must have been music to Luke Walton's ears. If anything, LeBron and this young core of guys were more likely to get off to a tremendously hot start and begin to hit some rough patches a third of the way into the season as the momentum and adrenaline from the new season wore off. We haven't had a lot of success against this franchise here in a long time or against this team period going a long way.

On the same day that LeBron sung McGee's praises as a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, McGee delivered with 12 points, six blocks and nine rebounds.

But between trading baskets and coming up on the wrong side of a few close calls from the officials, they were unable to make up enough ground to force overtime - due in large part to shooting just 6-of-35 from three - let alone secure the win. It feels good knowing that our team is getting better.

"I like Tyson Chandler", Stotts said. When you're not making shots that means you've got to go to the other end and you've got to be really sharp.

In Los Angeles, LeBron James gave the Staples Centre crowd a fright when he missed the first of two free throws with two seconds left as the Lakers squeezed past the Dallas Mavericks 114-113.
